Luxembourg is right in the heart of Europe, a small country that has wonders to offer.

Not only is there a massive cultural and historical heritage to discover around this country, but the City of Luxembourg is also a modern capital ahead of its times combined with Medieval buildings and cobbled streets.

A unique combination of past and present, of development and nature, makes for a country worth visiting. That’s not even mentioning the very lively ambiance and year-round events that make it a very attractive destination. It is also a very easy city to reach thanks to Flibco’s door2gate, a convenient and cheap shuttle taxi service to Luxembourg airport.

We are going to list our 5 reasons you should visit Luxembourg. But don’t be fooled, there are many more!

Luxembourg’s castles

In this little country of less than 3.000 square metres, some estimate there are over 100 castles. While many are considered manor houses, there are at least 50 castles and fortresses, some of which are extremely well conserved and open to be visited.

One of the most famous ones is Vianden, definitely a place you should consider while visiting Luxembourg. Vianden has a fairytale feeling to it, almost as if Disney stories had based their charm in this eleventh-century castle.

For those visitors interested in the history of Western Europe, hopping from castle to castle may be a great way to discover the intricate politics and rich past of this region.

Hiking in gorgeous Countryside

Luxembourg is famous for its beautiful countryside, but even better, for the hiking trails that are among the best pedestrian networks in Europe. Crossing pastures, valleys and lush forests, the list of trails is very detailed, easy to follow, and it also includes some international routes, connecting with Belgium and Germany.

Getting around Luxembourg is easy

Luxembourg is without a doubt an easy country to move around. Going anywhere either in the city or around takes little time and it makes for an easy destination to move around.

There is also a network of public transportation that is quite effective and will take you wherever you want to go. For example, by bus or train, Vianden is only 1 hour 30 minutes away, and Beaufort Castle, another famous spot to go visit, only 2 hours.

Even going to the airport is easy, with a variety of options, some of which are original and extremely efficient, like door2gate, a service that will pick you up at your home and get you to the airport from anywhere in Luxembourg and the greater region (including some spots in Belgium, France, and Germany), all at a very affordable price since the ride is shared.

The City of Luxembourg is unique

The capital of Luxembourg, also named Luxembourg, is more than worth visiting. With its cobbled streets, bridges looming over rich forests, and historical architecture, it charms its visitors in a blink.

But it has much more to offer, museums, art, cafes, and a multicultural environment hard to find anywhere else. It’s like in Luxembourg the whole world meets and hangs out, everybody is welcomed, whatever the language, regardless the culture.

Luxembourg is a great city to discover by foot, walking its streets and discovering its secrets.

Fun events and lively ambiance

Luxembourg is the scene of a variety of events, concerts, markets, and other festivals that are a magnet for those looking for a fun, lively town.

The summer is the best time to enjoy music festivals, like the Blues’n’Jazz Ralley, or for many sporting events, like the ING Night Marathon in the City of Luxembourg.

But it doesn’t end there. Flea Markets, fun fairs, concerts, live shows, cultural events… Luxembourg has a lot to offer and will leave you with unforgettable memories.
